This October, we’ve been working hard to improve our flagship gaming website, Gilect Play. From improving the navigation bar to adding spooky new Halloween games, here’s everything that’s new this month and what’s in development at Gilect Play.
Smaller Navigation Bar
Our navigation bar used to take up a lot of space on smaller screens, blocking the game. Now, upon scrolling down, the navbar halves in size while still retaining the navigation options. The navbar remains full height when at the top of the page.
This was a much-needed change, especially on smaller devices such as Chromebooks where the page is much more zoomed in by default.
Updating our Flash Emulator
We’ve upgraded the version of the Ruffle Flash emulator to the latest version. We now use Ruffle’s official CDN to ensure that it is always up-to-date and quick to load.
This allows us to add new Flash games that previously didn’t work on Ruffle, such as Papa Louie 2: When Burgers Attack. More modern Flash games will continue to be added in the coming weeks.
Some games are buggy on the latest version of Ruffle, which is why we are thoroughly testing each Flash game before deciding whether or not to switch the version used to emulate the game. However, games that are compatible with the newest version of Ruffle should be smoother and load quicker than before.
Fixing Bugs on Emulated Games
You might have noticed that the full-screen button didn’t function on emulated Flash games. Even though we fixed this bug, we found that many Flash games have performance issues or don’t scale properly to all screen sizes.
As such, we are going through emulated games one-by-one and testing full-screen compatibility. If the full-screen button is missing, that’s because we tested the game and found that full-screen is not suitable for it.
New Games This Month
So far, we’ve added several games this month. These include:
- Yenemy.io
- Papa Louie 2 (Emulated Flash Game)
- Breaking the Bank (Emulated Flash Game)
- 1v1.LOL
- Haunt the House (Emulated Flash Game)
To celebrate Halloween, we’re also going to be adding several spooky-themed games soon. These include:
- Haunt the House (already added)
- The Basement Isn’t THAT Haunted
- Dynamons 8
What’s Next For Gilect Play
We’re always working on adding new games and features to our websites. In the upcoming months, expect the following improvements:
- Re-creation of our mobile website. Currently, Gilect Play on phones only features a grid of games. We hope that by recreating it, discovering new games will be a much more enjoyable experience.
- Making it easier to find new games. We’ve already been improving our game recommendation system on Game Pages, and have been seeing more engagement in doing so. Soon, our front page will also be benefitting from targeted games specifically for you.
- We will also be adding new categories and different ways to sort games on the front page.
- Improved search UX.
- Integrating Gilect Play with our free web hosting services. This will allow users to easily add select games from Gilect Play onto their websites.
Thank you for continuing to use Gilect Play! Remember that you can always create your own gaming website using our web hosting services for free.
